Description
Centice came to HumanCentric with an exclusive sensor technology that they wanted integrated into their first pharmaceutical verification product. The Pharmaceutical Authentication Sensor System (PASS Rx) verifies solid capsule and tablet pharmaceuticals by analyzing the size, shape, color, and chemical composition of prescription drugs and confirming those characteristics with a database. HumanCentric's design team worked closely with Centice's own engineers and scientists in order to optimize the layout of the internal components for functional and aesthetic purposes. After the component placement was defined, our team was able to resolve the various pharmacist use case scenarios such as orienting various sized prescription pills into the device, safely scanning the prescriptions, and receiving verification feedback. The PASS Rx's final design incorporates a rotating semi-circular chamber that allows for prescription scanning and user protection from the internal laser, a LCD display angled for appropriate viewing of alerts and diagnostics, USB ports for a bar code scanner, and a narrow footprint that allows the device to easily fit within the limited space in the pharmaceutical environment.
