Swimways
Description
For the past 40 years Swimways Corporation has been a worldwide manufacturer of leisure and recreational water products. Their goal is to create products that make the lives of both children and adults more fun and exciting. This became HumanCentric's goal as well when our team of industrial designers and human factors specialists were enlisted to help design a new high-end floating lounge. Our design team made one singular form factor that would accommodate users with various body types while carrying out a series of activities including: transporting the lounge, entering and exiting the lounge while floating, sitting upright and reclining in the lounge, and removing the lounge from the water. The final design resulted in an inviting form factor backed by ergonomic proportioning with features including a fun a refreshing color scheme, dual cup holders, contoured chaise frame, and a removable pillow. The design also integrated collapsibility for minimized shipping capacities, optimization of retail display space, and pontoons designed to support up to 225lbs of weight.
